Welcome to the GLBT Issues Pathfinder

This pathfinder will be useful for adult public library users in or around the Oak Park, IL area who are interested in the current events and issues surrounding gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered (GLBT) society. These resources will help users to keep abreast and deepen their understanding of current issues facing the community. A public library may be able to give access to many of the books, periodicals, and documentaries mentioned here as well as providing access to the blogs, podcasts, and websites. Also, with a social issue such as the treatment and support of GLBT persons, it is important to present resources for local help and support. Some resources in this pathfinder are localized for the Oak Park, IL community.

The pathfinder has been sorted into three sections:

"Current Issues" offers recommended resources that present top GLBT news stories both nationally and internationally.

"Support Materials" offers resources that may provide a deeper understanding of the issues facing the GLBT community along with advice on how to broach sensitive subjects or how to engage in action.

"Support Networks" offers access to national and international networks that support and educate GLBT persons in their personal and professional lives and also support the people who care about them.
